Q. How does it work?
A. After speaking with you about what
kind of inventory you’d like and determining your precise needs, we will make
an appointment for a Data Entry Specialist(s) to visit your home.A
typical home inventory consists of professional quality photos of the exterior
and interior of your home, individual photographs of selected items of value,
and a detailed list of your property. Sometimes including serial numbers, receipts and its estimated value(both Actual and Replacement). We will also ask if you would like
important documents uploaded into your profile. This is a nice feature for home appraisals, tax info, college degrees, the list goes on. But Im sure you can think of an irreplaceable list. The time it takes will depend
on the size of the property and amount of items inventoried. A standard home of
approximately 1,500 feet would take 2-3 hours. Before we leave we will make
sure our client is 100% comfortable using our “My Virtual Home Inventory”
website. We will also show you how to add your insurance agent as an Authorized User, Just in case you ever need to make a claim.
Q. What is a “Home Inventory” and why is it important for me to have one?
A. A home inventory is an itemized and detailed list of the items and property that you own. A typical inventory will list each items description, make, model, serial #, date and place of purchase and purchase price. The word inventory was first recorded in 1601. The French term “inventaire”, or "detailed list of goods," dates back to 1415.
Having an up-to-date home inventory is not only smart, it is a necessity. When purchasing homeowners insurance, it is important to purchase adequate coverage for your assets. How would you know the total value of all your possessions without conducting an inventory? As a home owner or renter who suffers a loss due to theft, fire or any natural disaster, the burden of proof is on you to provide evidence of the missing/lost/stolen/damaged property to the insurance company during the claims process. Additionally, when filing a police report for lost or stolen property it is normally requested that you provide as much information about the item(s), to include serial #’s if available. This information is used in the identification process if/when your property is recovered.
“My Virtual Home Inventory” is just what you need to prepare in advance and be proactive and not reactive. You don’t want to have to rely on your memory when filing a claim.
Q. Why should I store it online versus any other method?
A. There are many other ways to store and backup your home inventory such as printing a hard copy record and/or saving it to your computer hard drive, a CD or flash drive. The problem with these solutions is their security and accessibility. Where would you store these formats? Would they survive a fire in your home or a natural disaster or flooding? Storing your home inventory with Secure Homes, LLC and the “My Virtual Home Inventory” product will give you unlimited access to your inventory anytime and from anywhere with an internet connection. Incidentally you can also choose to backup your information in any one of the other mentioned methods with your “My Virtual Home Inventory.”

A. In just a few minutes you can have immediate access to your customizable “My Virtual Home Inventory” profile. Once inside, you’ll be able to begin inputting information about your home and your possessions with the user friendly interface.
